Contractor Training and Approval

Your Local Power Company and TVA are committed to connecting you with professional contractors you can count on. Through our screening and training process, we have developed a network of service providers who meet the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, and expertise.

Our Screening and Training Process

We use the following criteria to screen and approve professional contractors installers for membership in the Quality Contractor Network:

Licensing

Members of the Quality Contractor Network must have been in business for at least one year and must maintain and up-to-date business license to retain membership.

Insurance

Quality Contractor Network members must carry a minimum of $1,000,000 in general liability insurance. Members must also carry worker's compensation insurance that meets minimum coverage as required by state law; if a contractor is exempt from worker's compensation insurance requirements, they must provide written acknowledgement from the state where exempt.

Training

To become a member of the Quality Contractor Network, installers must attend an in-person orientation session to receive training on Green Connect quality guidelines, performance requirements and program rules.

Performance Standards

Quality Contractor Network members shall maintain their business, employees, and subcontractors in a way that is compliant with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Participating installers shall comply with all TVA quality guidelines, membership and performance requirements, participation criteria, rules and instructions generally applicable to Quality Contractor Network members.

In order to maintain membership in the Quality Contractor Network, members must maintain a minimum inspection pass rate of 80% on all Green Connect installation verifications completed each year. Issues identified during failed verifications must be corrected within 30 days of notice of the failed verification.

Failure to abide by all terms may result in suspension or termination from the Quality Contractor Network. Actions that could also result in suspension or termination include but are not limited to:

  • Failure to respond to customer request for bids
  • Failure to correct a failed installation within 30 days after notice of a failed inspection
  • Failure to remedy damage to a homeowner’s property, at no cost to the homeowner, resulting from an installation
  • Discouraging an eligible customer from participating in a TVA program
  • Failure to honor any and all warranties sold to the customer
  • Failure to submit requested documents to program administrators in a timely manner
  • Performing any program services while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
